A Komplex Community team member will be swapping admin for an airplane to raise money for a cancer charity.
Our Compliance Administrator Amy Tudgay is raising money for Myeloma UK by taking part in a skydive this autumn.
The charity is close to Amy’s heart as her grandad was diagnosed with the rare disease last year.
She explained:
“Ever since he has been diagnosed, he has been fighting hard to beat this rare form of cancer. This includes undergoing emergency spinal surgery to remove tumours. To this day, he continues to fight and is currently having ongoing treatment.
“All donations, however big or small, will help Myeloma UK and all patients fighting this awful disease. I’m aiming to raise as much as possible so that the charity can continue the work they do. The work includes support for patients and their families, and vital research into multiple myeloma to improve treatment and outcomes.”
Myeloma is a type of bone marrow cancer, and it is also known as multiple myeloma as it often affects several areas of the body, such as the spine, skull, pelvis and ribs. Each year in the UK, around 6,200 people are diagnosed – equating to about 17 people per day. Around 2% of the total number of people with cancer have multiple myeloma. This makes it the 19th most common type of the disease.
Amy’s skydive is set to take place on Saturday 19th October, and she’s already raised more than £500 towards her target.
Komplex Community Managing Director Lisa Hillman said:
“We are so proud of Amy for choosing to take part in this challenge to help others with the same type of cancer as her grandad.
“It’s for a fantastic cause and we’d love to see more donations coming in. Every penny helps towards valuable research and support resources for patients.”
To support Amy, please consider making a donation and/or sharing her Just Giving page.
